Slate and Tile Roofing
- Slate - Slate is a stone and it is impenetrable by water. It is also resistant to heat and frost, and it will last as long as the sub-deck or structure beneath it. This material can be split into small sheets or shingles, and it can be formed into a variety of shapes, widths and thickness. Slate is installed on an underlayment and nailed or clipped much like a flat concrete tile.
- Tile - Tile roofing systems incorporate a variety of small units that range in length and width. These tiles can be composed of concrete or clay, which can be finished or unfinished and shaped flat or sculptured to resemble slate or other natural materials. Methods of attachment include nails, glue, mud adhesive or a combination of these. Thile is available in the following compositions
